du kannst aber gut deutsch (2020)
'du kannst aber gut deutsch'
the sars-cov-2 virus has not only put a new kind of disease on the scene. racism against asian-read people has also been acted out more openly and confidently than before. hoyerswerda and rostock-lichtenhagen prove that these phenomena are not new, but these are only the extremes. racism is hidden in everyday life, is structural as well as institutional. in order to overcome it as a privileged, white society, it is important to make an effort to understand how affected persons feel as a result. this work explores exactly this attempt and deals with german-asian perspectives. the interface between documentation and staged photogaphy allowed me to break open my privileged perspective and implement close cooperation and involvement of affected persons.
